SHAMA GUIDELINES

  1. I will be honest. I understand that no stealing will be tolerated.
  2. I will make a commitment to my recover process.
  3. I will not come to the SHAMA property under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  4. I will not engage in graphic stories of criminal behavior/abuse to others or myself nor will I encourage my peers to do the same.
  5. I will cause no damage to SHAMA property.
  6. I will not be violent at SHAMA. If I feel that I am losing control over my anger, I will talk with someone at SHAMA, or I will leave and return when feeling more under control.
  7. I will tell someone about suicidal or homicidal talk by others immediately. I understand that if I talk about hurting myself or someone else, my peers or staff may need to tell someone else for my own protection.
  8. I will not smoke inside or in front of SHAMA. The backyard is designated for smoking.
  9. I will not take anything for my own personal use, with the exception of food prepared for SHAMA members. All money and property donated to SHAMA is the property of SHAMA. when eating food, I will be mindful that I need to share the food with my fellow members.
  10. I will not expect my peers or staff to support my personal habits or financial needs.
  11. I understand that no weapons/firearms/knives/or any items used in a threatening manner will be allowed at SHAMA or on the property.
  12. I will respect the confidentiality of my peers. Everything said at SHAMA stays at SHAMA.
  13. I will not share my medications, or anyone else's. I will take my medications, as prescribed.
  14. I will clean up after myself and see if I can be of service to others.
  15. I will take responsibility for one chore on the chart every day that I attend SHAMA. I will be responsible for completing my commitment or arrange for someone else to it.
  16. I will not engage in any rude, insubordinate, intimidating or manipulating behavior and I will not be verbally, sexually, physically or emotionally abusive to others.
  17. I will not engage in harassment or ask for sexual favors at SHAMA or on the property.
  18. I will not discriminate against peers because of religion, race, sexual preference, gender, age, weight or disability.
  19. I understand that all members need to be at least 18 years old. Children or spouses/significant others of members may attend family functions only and must be accompanied by the member.
  20. I will follow all Federal, State and local safety laws, guidelines and regulations.
  21. If I have a conflict with someone else, I will talk directly to that person to resolve the conflict rather than talk about that person behind their back.
  22. I will not interrupt support groups or therapy groups.
  23. I will be clean and dressed appropriately.
  24. I will not go into the kitchen during prep, clean-up and serving time unless on work crew.
  25. I will be responsible for my one time guests/visitors. One time visitors are allowed by 24 hour approval by a staff member. Visitor must be referred by Mental Health System.
